Accreditation is about continually improving student performance and school effectiveness. The goals of accreditation are to evaluate, verify and improve an institution’s quality. South Sarpy District No. 46 is accredited through AdvancED. AdvancED is the world’s largest educational community, representing 23,000 public and private schools and 4,500 school districts. AdvancED schools and districts employ 3.5 million educators in 30 states, 65 countries and serve nearly 15 million students. To earn accreditation, schools and districts must:
In March, 2010, South Sarpy School District 46 earned district accreditation through an external review process. From this external review, commendations and required actions were given to the district. The required actions are to be addressed within 2 years of the external visit. The district is to submit an Accrediation Progress Report by May of 2012. This report details the progress we have made towards the required actions made by the external team visit in 2010. The two required actions being addressed include: 1) Create a clear, written school improvement plan that helps prioritize and focus current inititatives. Research SIP models then select and implement a plan that includes measureable goals to provide a consistent framework for continuous improvement. 2) Increase communication with parents and community regarding student achievement data. To assist us in this process, two external team members have been invited to return to the district on February 24, 2012 to evaluate the district's progress towards the required actions and provide further commendations and next steps in our continuous improvement process.
