TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Bus Service Request Form     Bus Safety Rules     Bus Routes     Contact Information

Parents and guardians planning to utilize the school district's bus service for the 2009-10 school year should complete the Bus Service Request form. The Bus Service Request form is also available at each of the South Sarpy District No. 46 school offices. Completed forms should be returned to your school office or the district office.

In developing bus schedules, we tried to anticipate traffic situations and other problems that could delay buses, but it isn’t possible to foresee every difficulty that may arise. With a number of bus routes there are bound to be some late buses or missed pick-ups for any number of reasons throughout the school year. Although we clearly expect this to be the exception rather than the rule, we ask for your patience when and if these instances occur.

If your child encounters a major problem, please contact your school office or First Student at 339-4496. Changes in routes will be made when necessary. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we attempt to correct any issues.

Please take time to review the district's Bus Safety Rules with your child.

To assist in providing a safer environment for all students receiving bus transportation, the buses are equipped with a video monitoring system. The system consists of a video camera mounted inside the front of the bus, which views the students during trips to and from school. With this system serving as a “second pair of eyes” for the bus driver, his or her attention is directed to the safe operation of the vehicle. The system will also provide the school administrators with support information as to unsafe situations or disciplinary issues on the bus.

Damage to seats, windows, or any other bus equipment must be paid for by the offender.

Bus discipline and safety is a shared responsibility of students, parents, drivers and school principals. It is imperative that strict rules be enforced to ensure the safety of students. Procedures for handling discipline on school buses are the same as those used in the classroom. These procedures can be found in the student handbook.

If your child(ren) won’t be riding a bus on a particular day, please call the bus garage ASAP to let the designated driver know that a stop at your particular address won’t be necessary. An answering machine is available 24/7 for such messages at (402) 339-4496. Students riding from a designated “group pick up” don’t need to call when not riding, and the pick up will still occur for other riders at that particular stop.

We appreciate your cooperation in helping us make the school year safe and pleasant for all students.
